Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) Scholarship

NWAG’s mission is to empower, enrich, and educate women, children, and youth in both local and national communities, fostering unity, togetherness, and excellence in collective endeavors. Since its establishment as a nonprofit organization in 2000, NWAG has consistently made a significant impact on the lives of youth, women, and children in Atlanta, Georgia, and Nigeria.

The mission of NWAG continues to thrive and grow stronger with each passing year.

The mission of NWAG Scholarship

To further advance their mission of empowerment, NWAG aims to expand their programs, specifically by:

  • Extending the Scholarship Program in Nigeria to Female Survivors of Human Trafficking
  • Establishing the Center for Nigerian Arts, Culture, and Empowerment (NWAG HOUSE)
  • Adopting and Supporting Additional Orphanages in Nigeria
  • Increasing Initiatives in Health/Medical Supplies Programs

These ambitious endeavors require a goal of raising $1,500,000 (One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars) to provide essential support. As the saying goes, “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” NWAG invites you to dream big with them and become a partner at the forefront of their humanitarian efforts.

The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) has outlined its intention to grant 74 exclusive scholarships, one for each state of origin in Nigeria, along with an additional scholarship for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This initiative aims to support undergraduate students enrolled in Nigerian universities who are selected as recipients of the 2023 Scholarship Award. Each deserving student will receive a monetary grant of Three Hundred U.S. Dollars ($300).

Furthermore, the 1st runner up in each category will be awarded One Hundred and Fifty U.S. Dollars ($150). It is important to note that the scholarship award will be given in the equivalent amount in Nigerian Naira.

Eligibility for the Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) Scholarship

All interested Female students must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be an Undergraduate Student
  • Must be a student in a Federal or State University.



Required Documents for the Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) Scholarship

To apply for the scholarship, please provide the following documents and information:

  • Proof of State of Origin: Submit either a Letter of Origination from your university or a letter from your local government office.
  • Two letters of recommendation from any two of the following sources:

a. Pastor or Imam

b. Village Head

c. Local Government Chairperson

d. University Lecturer or Head of the Department

  • One letter of recommendation from either the Dean of your Faculty or the School Head of your Department.
  • A photocopy of your current university student identification.
  • Attach a recent photograph of yourself.
  • Write a concise explanation (not exceeding one-half typed page) on why you require and deserve the scholarship.
  • Prepare a two-page, type-written, double-spaced essay on the topic: “Curbing kidnapping epidemic in Nigeria: How did we get there? In what ways can kidnapping be eradicated in Nigeria?
