About DESOPADEC Bursary

DESOPADEC stands for Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission. We wish to use this medium to inform all students and undergraduates of Delta State Origin that the application portal is now open for all interested applicants.



The Bursary is to support students from oil-producing communities who are fully registered students currently studying in a recognized Nigerian University.

How I Got the DESOPADEC Bursary 

I am by name Ugbune Oghenerukevwe Efemena Enoch, I hail from the Ethiope West local government area of Delta State, and I am Urhobo by the tribe.

It’s my delight to share with you how I got the 2020/2021 DESOPADEC Bursary, to guide you on a successful application for the 2022 Bursary Scheme.



The same way you are seeing this opportunity application invite on Myscholarship.ng is the same way I saw it online in 2020. While others were in doubt, I took it upon myself to apply, knowing fully well that this is my privilege and also an entitlement to me as a student from one of the largest oil-producing states in Nigeria.

Getting opportunities has more to do than just filling out application forms and hitting the submit buttons. To become a beneficiary, below are important things you must know.



Oil Producing Areas

You must come from an oil-producing community in the Delta state. Below are oil-producing areas/regions in Delta State:

Urhobo

Isoko

Ijaw

Itsekiri

Ndokwa.

If you are you are from one of these communities, then you are eligible.



Selection Criteria for the Bursary

  • Applications must come from the DESOPADEC mandate area. That is, they must be either Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Ika, Isoko, or Ndokwa.
  • They must be Students currently in School either University or Polytechnic in Nigeria.
  • They must be from 200 Level and above and
  • They must be full-time University or Polytechnic Undergraduates in Nigeria.

Required Documents

I ensured I submit all the required documents. You would need to contact the chapter president of your ethnic group in your institution for a certificate of identification.

Below are the documents that must be submitted:

  •  A recent Passport Photograph
  • Student ID Card
  • Letter of Admission
  • Local Government of Origin Identification Certificate
  • A letter of Identification from the Student Union Chapter President of their Ethnic Nationality.

NOTE: Each document must be in. Jpeg format and must not exceed 1MB.
