Erasmus Mundus Scholarship: Suitable Qualified candidates are invited to apply for the 2023 Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarship in Soil Science. This is a scholarship opportunity that grants youth the opportunity to travel to four countries for their master’s program.



Scholarship Overview for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship in Soil Science

The Erasmus Mundus Master in Soil Science (emiSS) will address the need for qualified and skilled soil scientists at the master’s level through a training program that combines soil science (soil physics, chemistry, biology and hydrology, soil genesis and classification, soil pollution and reclamation), management (soil erosion and conservation, land use, planning and management, soil health and quality), and fertility (fertilizers and fertilization, soilless cultivation).

Full Benefits of the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship in Soil Science

Contribution to emiSS participation costs: 6,000 € (2-year full-time Master’s degree)

Contribution to travel costs: 2,000 €/year if the place of residence is less than 4’000 km from LAS and 3,000 €/year if the place of residence is more than 4’000 km from LAS

Contribution to installation costs: 1,000 €

Living allowance (max. 24 months): 1,000 € / month (not when in the country of residence and max. 3 months in any Partner Country).

Eligibility Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in soil science/soil science & plant nutrition, agriculture, biology, environmental science, earth science, and other relevant fields was awarded. Language proficiency: B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 78), unless English is the native language.



  • Completed application, including two reference letters;
  • Pre-acceptance is conditional on meeting the requirements of the various Partner Universities for Master’s level enrollment. To confirm your registration in the emiSS master’s degree program, you may be required to provide legalized copies of your degree and transcripts of records, legal translations by a sworn translator, and other documents.



NOTE: This documentation is not required at application stage so you do not need to incur certain expenses that are not necessary until you are pre-accepted in the Master’s Degree. In any case, you will be informed well in advance about the necessary requirements and documents you will need to provide.
