Exciting news for Nigerian students looking to further their studies in computer science! The Embassy of France in Nigeria has just announced a new scholarship program for the academic year 2023/2024.

This program will finance a master’s degree at a French university, and five grants will be awarded to deserving applicants. If you’re interested in applying, make sure to submit your application by April 16th, 2023. The program is made possible thanks to funding from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, as well as collaboration with the French Ministry for Higher Education and Research.

Eligible Criteria for the French Embassy Master Scholarship

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Possess Nigerian citizenship and be a resident of Nigeria.
  • Be below 35 years of age.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or a Higher National Diploma in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
  • Have completed the National Service.
  • Applicants with a First Class or Second-Class Upper degree will be given preference.
  • Be fully dedicated to pursuing a course of study in France during the academic year starting from September/October 2023/2024.
  • French language skills are not mandatory for applying.

Documents Required to apply for the French Embassy Master Scholarship

Please provide the following documents to complete your application:

  • A copy of the data page of your international passport, which should be valid for at least two (2) years.
  • A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • A personal statement.
  • A Bachelor’s degree certificate or its equivalent.
  • Your undergraduate transcript, which can be provided in a maximum of two (2) documents.
  • Your NYSC certificate.
  • A recommendation letter from your university (although it is not mandatory, it is highly recommended).

Mode of Application for the French Embassy Master Scholarship

Rule 1: To apply for the France Nigeria Scholarship Program, please submit the complete application and required documents to [email protected] by April 16th, 2023, at 11:59 pm.

Rule 2: When submitting, the subject line of your email should read as follows: “LAST NAME First Name – Application to France Nigeria Scholarship Program”.

Also, each document’s title should follow this format: “NUMBER OF DOCUMENT. LAST NAME First Name – Type of document”.

For instance, “1. TERWASE Philomena – International passport”, “2. TERWASE Philomena – Cover letter”, and “3. TERWASE Philomena – bachelor’s degree”, etc.

Rule 3: To ensure that your documents are legible and clear, make sure they are readable from left to right and are no larger than 1.5Mo each.

You can use an online file compressor, if necessary, but please check that the quality has not been affected.

Rule 4: After submitting your documents, you must complete the Google form available below.

Master Scholarship Timeline

French Embassy Scholarship SCHEDULE is as follows:

  • The application period will be available from March 17th, 2023, to April 16th, 2023, at 11:59pm in Nigeria time.
  • On March 17th, a webinar will be held to equip students with all the necessary information to organize their applications.
  • The application submission deadline is on April 16th.
  • On May 8th 2023, the eligible candidates will be interviewed.
  • Results and instructions on how to proceed with the host university in France will be provided on May 17th, 2023.
  • Departure to France will take place in September/October 2023.
