Fisk University offers merit-based scholarships to help academically talented students cover the cost of their education as University resources permit. In addition to a competitive academic record, students interested in merit-based awards should also present a record of demonstrated leadership and community service.

Scholarship Categories and Funding
Below are the five scholarship categories and funding available at Fisk University. You apply to the university and you are considered for a scholarship directly under a category based on your financial statement or background.
Erastus Milo Cravath Presidential Scholarship
This covers full tuition, fees, room & board. The recipient must earn a minimum of 12-18 credit hours per semester. This scholarship is renewable annually and all detailed requirements are listed on the university contract found in the student’s award packet. This is a fully funded scholarship.
Ella Sheperd Moore Provost Scholarship
This scholarship covers full tuition. The recipient must earn a minimum of 12-18 credit hours per semester. This scholarship is renewable annually and all detailed requirements are listed on the university contract found in the students’ award packet. This is also a fully funded scholarship.
Fisk Outstanding Scholars & Leaders Award
Coverage for this scholarship ranges from $5K to $15K. The recipient must earn a minimum of 12-18 credit hours per semester. This scholarship is renewable annually and all detailed requirements are listed on the university contract found in the students’ award packet.
Fisk Performance Award for Music Majors

Eligibility Requirements for Fisk University Scholarship
Below are the requirements to be considered eligible for the Fisk University Scholarship
Students from Countries all around the world are eligible to apply
- Applicants must be admitted for a full course of study.
- Students must provide reliable financial documentation to prove that they have financial resources adequate to meet all expenses while studying at Fisk University.
- Actual documentation must indicate that funds exist at least for the student’s first year of study at Fisk.
- Once your financial documents have been approved, your I-20 will be processed and mailed to you. Sign and date your Form I-20 at the bottom of page 1 and use it to apply for F-1visa.
English Proficiency Requirements
If a student’s country’s native or official language is the English language, the provision of English proficiency test scores is not compulsory.
Demonstration of English Proficiency (if the student’s native language or their country’s official language is not English) by one of the following:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of:
- 500 (paper-based)
- 173 (computer-based)
- 61 (internet-based)
- International English Language Test Systems (IELTS) overall band score of 5.5
NOTE: Students who submit SAT test scores above 1200 and 28 ACT are exempt from submitting TOEFL scores or IELTS.
Documents Required for Graduates Programs
If you are applying for a master’s programme, the below-listed documents are required:
- Personal Statement: Describe your interest in the program, your goals, your background, and about yourself.
- Three Letters of Recommendation: At least two should be former instructors in the major field, acquainted with your educational background and personal character. (The School of Graduate Studies will contact them directly to request letters of recommendation on your behalf after you submit your application.)
- Result Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions if any
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae
- TOEFL or IELTS Scores (This is only for students from countries that do not take English as an official language)
