This is an international and global competition cutting across different continents all around the globe. Photos can be taken with a camera or mobile phone. You must own the right to the photos.
About USAID’s Youth Excel
Youth Excel is a global program that will equip young people and youth groups with the tools they need to apply implementation research to advance local, national, and global development solutions.
Youth Excel will assist young leaders and youth-led and youth-serving organizations around the world in conducting quality implementation research, using data and learnings to improve their own cross-sectoral, positive youth development programs, synthesizing data and learning, and engaging in intergenerational dialogue with adult decision-makers to shape and advance data-informed development policies, agendas, and programs.
Contest Overview
Youth Excel, a program of USAID, is conducting a 6-week worldwide picture competition to inspire young people from Africa, Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa to upload images that highlight five primary themes:
- Youth Mental Health and WellnessÂ
- Youth at The Forefront of Economic DevelopmentÂ
- Youth and Decision-Makers at WorkÂ
- Youth Driving Decisions Through DataÂ
- Gender and InclusionÂ

The contest will run from June 6, 2022, to July 17, 2022. Contestants must submit original photos and own the rights to the photos. Please review the submission instructions and terms and conditions here.Â
Who Can Apply?
Young changemakers between 15-35 years old from Africa, Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa.

Participation in the Youth Excel’s photo contest authorizes IREX, USAID, and the Youth Excel program to use the winning images on the IREX website and other communication channels for IREX and Youth Excel such as social media, publications, collateral, and more. Other entries may also be used by the Youth Excel program and USAID.
Prize
The first-place winner from each theme will receive a special prize valued at USD 200-$300.
